An erstwhile colleague approached me last night, seeking advice, convinced and willing to help his confidante, under transfer, but how?
"Ek chiz bataiye, jaise kisi ka transfer hua hai aur use relieve na karna ho to uska process kya hai ?"
And thus, I responded:
"You should've shared full details.
Transfers are serious policy matters of Government, often initiated by interested, powerful forces, who won't let them go uncomplied with, under pretext of discipline and subordination. If not done tactfully, the protector may have to run for cover, himself.
Key is never to confront head on, but to deviate, or side pass it. Monitoring of compliance, seldom extends beyond about a month, and idea is to let this crucial time pass. Nobody bothers later.
The more sensible, and easy is to request is, to seek time, extension of relieving and joining deadlines, on the pretext of some innocent, yet inevitable and adequately justifiable reasons. Having provided firm ground, the key authority can be persuaded to go along, or look the other way.
Just a matter of time. 😀"
